LADY OF TIDES honoured at Venice TV Award
Because the best work done on television deserves to be honoured, the telenovela LADY OF TIDES, produced by SP Televisão and broadcast on SIC, won the trophy for Soap/Telenovela at the Venice TV Award 2024. Also nominated in the same category were TVI's Cacau, Brazilian TV Globo's Vai na Fé, Turkey's Golden Boy and the Philippines' Pulang Araw.
Starring Sofia Ribeiro and Afonso Pimentel, and written by João Matos and Raquel Palermo, and directed by Manuel Amaro da Costa, LADY OF TIDES tells the story of Joana, a woman who discovers that she is pregnant and that this could be the best news of her life, were it not for her husband, Alexandre (Pedro Hossi), who is completely against their decision to have a child. When Alexandre finds out about Joana's pregnancy, he threatens her. Faced with this, she makes the difficult decision to run away from him and, in desperation, gets on a boat that takes her to the Azores.
The Venice TV Award was launched as a tribute to and celebration of television, increasing national and international recognition for both producers and broadcasters who create high-quality products.
