Tribeca Festival arrives in Lisbon

The Tribeca Festival Lisbon is set to debut at the Beato Innovation District in Lisbon, on the 18th and 19th of October 2024. The event will feature a programme including conferences, film screenings, podcasts, and panel discussions, with the presence of international film personalities such as Robert De Niro and Whoopi Goldberg.

The festival’s programme is divided into the following sections:

Tribeca Talks: This space will feature participants such as Chazz Palminteri, Albano Jerónimo, Daniela Ruah, Griffin Dunne, Ricardo Araújo Pereira, and Pedro Lopes, among others. In the talk titled What Truly Makes a Story Great?, Pedro Lopes, screenwriter and Head of Content at SP Televisão and SPi, will be a speaker. This discussion will cover the complex balance between writing and directing and how filmmakers, screenwriters, directors, and cinema enthusiasts create remarkable stories and narratives. It will take place on the 18th of October, from 2:15 pm to 3:15 pm.

Made in Portugal: Focused on national production, this section will showcase 12 films, including Podia Ter Esperado Por Agosto by César Mourão and Kevin Dias. Other works, such as Silence and Os Sonhos Continuam, will have screenings followed by discussions with the actors and directors.

Untold Stories: An informal conversation space exploring the impact of digital technology on the film industry, the careers of actors, and the Portuguese presence in Hollywood. Confirmed participants include Daniela Ruah, Joaquim de Almeida, Patty Jenkins, and Sara Sampaio.

The festival will serve as a meeting point for discussions about the future of entertainment, the impact of new technologies, and the art of storytelling, reflecting the ongoing evolution of the film industry. This promises to be a celebration of the intersection between American cinema and Portuguese audiovisuals, with a diverse programme that includes independent films, series, podcasts, and musical performances. Impresa, company of the SIC channel and OPTO streaming platform, is the event’s partner.
