THE MEDALISTS series nominated for the New York Festivals - TV & Film Awards
The series “The Medalists”, an original production by OPTO, SIC's streaming platform, and produced by SP Televisão, has been nominated for the prestigious New York Festivals - TV & Film Awards in the Streaming Drama category. This distinction highlights the production in the international audiovisual panorama, reinforcing the quality and relevance of national series.
“The Medalists” is the only Portuguese project on this year's list of nominees. The series joins many other productions from the SPTV group that have previously been nominated and awarded at this festival, most recently the series “Motel Valquirias” and “Codex 632”, with the SPi brand.
The series explores the competitive world behind the scenes of sport, following a group of young athletes at the Monsanto High Performance Academy. The main cast includes Joana Cravo, João Maneira, João Bettencourt and Paula Magalhães, as well as renowned actors such as Paula Lobo Antunes, Luís Esparteiro and Custódia Gallego. The first season of “The Medalists”, made up of 26 episodes, premiered on Opto on December 29, 2023 and was subsequently made available on the Prime Video platform in 2024, expanding the international reach of the Portuguese production.
The event annually honors the world's best television and film productions and is judged by a panel of more than 200 industry experts. The winners will be announced at the Storytellers Gala, a virtual event that will take place on May 22nd.
The series Os Eleitos is available on OPTO, SIC's streaming platform, and on Prime Video.
