Synopsis
SALTY SEA
Hope never dies...
In the summer of 1998, a 16-year-old girl named Leonor falls in love with Gonçalo, a famous 23-year-old motorbike rider. The two end up having an affair and she gets pregnant, soon realizing that he will never willingly acknowledge being the father. So, she decides to hide it. At nine months, Leonor’s father Alberto finds out about it and demands that the pilot steps up or he’ll turn him in for statutory rape. Fearing that a scandal like this might lose him his sponsorships, Gonçalo asks a doctor friend and Patrícia, Leonor’s best friend, to help him... The plan is to tell Leonor that the baby died during childbirth and make it disappear.
On the due date, everyone is caught off guard when they all realize that Leonor is having twins. When she wakes up, nobody tells her that she had two babies, assuring her that her child was stillborn and that there was nothing they could have done. The twin girl is then handed over to Gonçalo's sister, Amélia, who was unable to have children and was considering adopting with her husband. The twin boy is left at a church’s doorstep by Patrícia.
