Synopsis
HEART AND SOUL
The impossibility to run away from who we are and from our own past...
Benedita, a young girl on a boat journey in the Mediterranean with her friends Francisca and Gonçalo and her boyfriend André, whose job is to take million-dollar yachts and sail boats onto their owners’ vacation spots, finds out that he’s associated with a human trafficking ring. This revelation causes turmoil within the criminal enterprise, most of all due to the fact that, unbeknownst to her, Benedita's grandfather is the ringleader... When he learns that Benedita is set to meet with the Italian police to turn them all in, Albano gives the order for her own granddaughter to be killed. Yet, Benedita survives, albeit in a coma and carrying her boyfriend’s child without her knowledge.
On the day she gives birth to a baby girl, Benedita wakes up as her waters burst. The fact that she is suddenly a mother without any sort of preparation for it and after all she went through compels her to make a plan. Benedita vanishes and takes on a new identity, being reborn as Diana.
