Sofia lives in misery after losing her home and being abandoned by Octávio, her husband. With her last strength, she fights to keep the old workshop where she lives, which she is about to lose due to debt, while dealing with the loss of her daughter, Beatriz, who has gone missing for a decade. Her life changes when she meets Raúl Novais, a millionaire with all the power in the village of Ribeira Fria. Sofia is unaware that this man is connected to her mother's past - they had a brief affair that ended when he found out about her pregnancy and paid her to never contact him again.

Forty-six years later, fate brings Raúl and Sofia together.
