Inês remains the same active and restless girl since she was a kid when, during a family vacation, her father and her sister Marta disappeared in the river. Despite the tragedy that struck the family and the blame she feels to having survived instead of her sister, Inês never stopped being a fighter, filled with determination and generosity.

She meets João while he, as a paramedic, helps a homeless man that she finds unconscious. Right there, the two realize that they were made for each other. Even though they share a great love, their relationship will be seriously disturbed by Diana, who is actually Inês’s sister Marta, who everyone thought dead.

As a child, she went underwater in the Minho River, but survived and was adopted by Graciete and António, who named her Diana and embraced her as a gift from God after losing their own daughter at the same age to meningitis.
